I think this image is a fairly good rendering of what I would imagine to be the great plains as all the families moved out. In the beggining of the Grapes of Wrath we are given a fairly good image of the land to start with, vexed with both the banks moving in on their estates as well as the poor weather of the land, they must leave. The picture is what I see the land as once it has been deserted by all the families. Second Wall
